Gexa Energy Announces Payment Policies to Help Hurricane Victims
HOUSTON, TX – September 24, 2008

Gexa Energy announces several new payment policies designed to help its residential customers in the FEMA Texas Disaster Counties who may be experiencing financial hardships. These programs include:
  • Automatically waiving late fees for residential customers in the FEMA-designated counties until September 30. Customers whose accounts are due between September 11 and September 30 are not required to contact Gexa Energy to request the late fee waiver.

  • Offering a deferred payment plan that allows Gexa Energy residential customers in FEMA-designated counties to pay 25 percent of their existing balance with the remainder paid in three equal installments. Gexa Energy residential customers in FEMA-designated counties can secure the Deferred Payment Plan by contacting Gexa Energy Customer Care at 713-961-9399.
Additionally, Gexa Energy is extending its LITE-UP Texas deferred payment program for qualified residential customers until October 31. Residential customers enrolled in the LITE-UP Texas program can qualify for the deferred payment program. LITE-UP Texas is a program that helps low-income individuals reduce the monthly cost of electric service. Qualifying low-income residential customers who receive service from Gexa Energy can pay $100, or their entire bill, whichever amount is less, for each bill that comes due until October 31. Any remaining amount will be moved to a four-month deferred payment program to begin with their next bill after November 1.

Gexa Energy customers are encouraged to call the company’s Customer Care department at 713-961-9399 or 866-961-9399 to discuss their eligibility for these payment policies.

Gexa Energy (PUCT #10027) is a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary of FPL Energy.
