GEXA ENERGY, SHELTERING ARMS SENIOR SERVICES, ANNOUNCE FUND TO HELP LOW-INCOME SENIORS PAY THEIR GEXA ENERGY ELECTRICITY BILLS
Houston, TX - February 01, 2007

There is good news for low-income seniors in Houston who need help paying their electricity bills, particularly with summer just around the corner.

Gexa Energy customers who qualify as low-income households will be eligible to receive a portion of approximately $243,000 in bill payment assistance funds. Sheltering Arms Senior Services, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of seniors and their caregivers in Houston, will determine customer eligibility according to household income. The organization also will administer the funds to eligible Gexa Energy customers.

The program is funded by Gexa Energy and CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC. CenterPoint's funds were contributed as a result of the recent settlement of its April 2006 rate case filing. The settlement led to the creation of a bill payment assistance program for eligible low-income customers of Gexa Energy and other retail electric providers in CenterPoint’s service area.

"We want our customers who qualify to know this money is there to help them – especially with the summer months ahead," says Gexa Energy's Vice President of Sales Les Owen.

Those interested in determining their eligibility can contact the Utility Assistance Line at Sheltering Arms Senior Services, 713-956-7456. The Utility Assistance Line will be staffed by on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning February 22, from 9 am – noon.

In addition, qualified low-income customers of any age are eligible to pay their Gexa Energy deposit in two equal installments. These customers residing in the CenterPoint Energy service territory will also receive approximately $6 off their Gexa Energy monthly electricity bills through August 2007.
